Online courses

Dr Cian organises online tutored cytology and haematology courses in collaboration with the platform VetCPD. These courses are primarily addressed to general practice veterinarians but can also be attended by veterinary students, veterinary nurses and laboratory technicians. These courses are now available on demand, which means you can start them anytime and you can complete them at your own pace. All these courses also feature DIGITAL CASES to make the experience more real, the same as sitting in front of the microscope.

How are these online courses structured?

    • The courses are composed of a series of modules, each containing a webinar and pdf study material. The short webinars (you can watch them whenever you want) gives you the basics you need to know on a certain topic. The study material (that you can print and keep) contains the same information organised in a nice way, a few more details and some useful photos.
    • Practical cases will give you the chance to put into practice what you have learnt. These will include a few digital cases to make the experience more real, the same as if you are sitting in front of the microscope. Solutions will be posted a few days after and you will have the possibility to share your reports and have them checked by your tutor.
    • There will also be an online live forum to interact with your tutor where you can ask any question related to the topics discussed in the course.
    • At the end of the course, you will take a final exam (MCQs) and, once you have passed, you will receive a certificate of participation. Multiple attempts are allowed, so don’t worry!

What makes these courses special?

    • All our online products are tutored courses, which means there will be a direct interaction between you and the tutor. You will have the possibility to ask questions on the live forum and to have your cytology/haematology reports checked and corrected by the tutor. If you prefer to attend the course in a quieter way and not having any interaction, that is not a problem. We want everybody to feel comfortable and attend the course in the way they prefer.
    • We are the first provider in the world to integrate digital cytology cases within an online course for teaching purposes.

How much time is required for each course to be completed

    • The amounts of time required to complete each online course varies and depends on your speed and how much time you want to invest. 3-4 hours per week should be considered enough. There are no live sessions, therefore you can plan your study time for when it is more convenient for you. We know how busy the life of a vet sometimes (often) is.

Do these courses count as CPDs?

    • In the United Kingdom, these online courses count as 8 hours towards your Continuing Professional Development. For the other countries, we recommend you checking with the professional body or regulator of your country as rules and requirements may vary.

Dr Cian also organises online tutored cytology and haematology courses in collaboration with UNISVET. Some of these courses are in Italian language and are addressed to general practitioners; others are in English language and are addressed to a wider public.
